Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are, simply stated, amazing. Every day they wake up and make their way to school knowing that they will leave with hours of homework. Most of them won't get home until 7 or 8 pm. Many come from low income households and will be the first in their family to graduate high school and/or go to college. They are under tremendous pressure; they are in teams, clubs, leadership, journalism, photography, film, and are taking, about, 3-4 AP courses. Despite all of this, they are highly motivated, engaged, and eager to learn.

My Project

My students need additional test practice in preparation for the rigorous demands of the AP English Language exam they will take in May 2018. Students will use the Albert online test prep program to familiarize themselves with the reading and writing demands of the exam. The program will be offered as additional exam prep activities for students that feel they need the help. Students will be able to review on their own time, especially as we get closer to the exam date. While I wish I could offer this to all of my students, I am confident that students that participate and complete the extra review will benefit by scoring a 3 or higher on the AP exam.
