My Students

I am a Middle School Science teacher in a high needs NYC area. I service English Language Learners within the 7th grade. We are in need of a classroom printer.

My students have to overcome many language barriers, learn the English language and required school concepts with little or no help from their parents.

Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language as well as knowledge of these concepts. My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings. Unfortunately, another aspect my student share is that the majority (+65%) of the families in my school are struggling financially.

My Project

Printers enable teachers to share students' finished digital products, communicate with parents with progress reports, and obtain resources from the Internet to copy and share with each student. When students or I complete tasks using technology, the work becomes trapped on the classroom computers. Teaching with technology is so vital in this day and age in order to prepare students to be career and college ready. The selected printer also has a scanning capability that will enable me to scan images and work samples to project on to the board to enrich the Science content & language development.

My students are truly inspiring.

They overcome hardships each day, yet still have the drive to succeed. They want to learn, and they deserve the best education possible. An education will be their ticket to success, and will open doors they never thought possible. I want each and every student in my class to dream big, and realize that with hard work anything is possible. I teach them to reach for the stars, now let's help them get there!
