My Students

I absolutely love my job and it's all due to my students. Since I began teaching at my current school, I have been under the impression that the content of their character is far above the national average, and nothing in the past 4 years has been able to convince me otherwise. My own children are students at the same school and this year my son played in the 5th and 6th grade basketball league. One night, their coach was running really late to practice so the team was just goofing off in the gym. The high school basketball team had just finished their practice and one of my biology students came by. Instead of just watching them being completely unproductive, he jumped in and started organizing the boys into groups and running drills with them. One thing their team really struggled with this year was behaving like a team. One person would make a mistake and no fewer than 3 boys would berate him for it. Of course one of them made a mistake during the drill and they began their usual criticism. My student shut it down and explained what it meant to be a teammate.

My Project

With the current pandemic going on, our small rural school is scrambling to implement virtual learning. We have been lucky enough to be able to provide laptops to our students. However, with students using their laptops for every class, at least 7 hours a day, the batteries are not up for the job. We need power strips so students can be using their computers and charging at the same time. The power strips need to have cords of at least 6 feet so students can remain socially distanced while charging their batteries. Help keep students safe and engaged!
