My Project

This project, Powering a Safe Woodworking Shop, is dedicated to enhancing safety and functionality in our woodworking classroom by equipping it with retractable extension cord reels. In a woodworking environment where students are often using various tools and machinery, organization and safety are crucial. The retractable cord reels will prevent tripping hazards caused by loose cords, create a more efficient workspace, and instill in students the importance of maintaining a well-organized work area.

These upgrades will significantly impact learning by enabling students to focus on their craft without the distraction or risk of navigating cluttered, unsafe spaces.

With retractable reels, students can easily access power where needed while keeping workstations clear, promoting smoother, safer, and more productive sessions. Additionally, a safer environment fosters confidence and creativity, essential for skill development in woodworking.

Project Goals:

Improve Safety: Reduce tripping hazards and accidents by eliminating loose cords on the floor.

Enhance Organization: Promote a clean and professional workshop layout, teaching students the value of an organized workspace.

Boost Learning Outcomes: Provide students with a safer, more efficient environment that encourages focus and creativity.

Foster Real-World Skills: Model best practices for shop maintenance and workplace safety, preparing students for future careers in trades or craftsmanship.

My students are passionate, creative problem-solvers who take pride in their craft. By improving organization and access to power, the reels will allow them to focus on their work, fostering creativity and confidence in a safe environment while preparing them with real-world woodworking skills.
