This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are incredible. They come from all parts of our city in California and even some stretches beyond. Many of my students have to overcome traumatic situations and environments in their personal lives. Most of my students live in impoverished conditions. Most students in my class have never had any previous educational experience with the arts.

The students in my class transform and thrive academically through visual arts.

My class is mandatory and students of all skill levels, interests, and experiences are in my class. The students I teach deeply appreciate having visual arts opportunities.

My Project

My students are excited to paint! We will be painting on canvas for the newer painters, and on 15 school walls for the more experienced painters! These brushes will go a tremendous way in helping students feel confident in their work regardless of the surface that it's on. There is nothing better to build up a good painter than good brushes. Students gain momentum and drive when they build their confidence, and a good set of brushes will allow them to apply the paint in ways that give them just that.
