Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are all freshmen who are in biology class. They are living on the southeast side of Chicago and attending a neighborhood high school.

Our students are freshmen in a co-taught biology classroom.

This means that there are two teachers and a percentage of the students in the room are students with special needs. There are also multiple students in our classroom who are in the ELL program, meaning they are learning the English language.

Over the course of their freshman year, the students grow a love for science!

We hope that their love continues as they go on to college and their future careers.

My Project

We are in the cell unit in biology class and we have a few posters in the room. The students who sit near the posters are extremely grateful. The ones who sit on the other side of the room are jealous.

We want to add more posters to the walls so that all students have access to a clear, colorful poster to support their learning.

These posters will be placed on the bulletin boards on all four walls. This way all students can see a few posters and the students will have a variety of posters to learn from.

This project will fund posters for our co-taught biology classroom. Posters are expensive and not part of the school or teacher budget.
