My Students

In order for Middle School students to be successful, they need a lot of things. Two supplies essential for learning are paper and post-its!

I work in a low-income neighborhood in Chicago where 95% of the students receive free or reduced lunch.

At my school 76% of the students are African or African American and 15% are Hispanic. The middle school students I work with are both sassy and smart. A good combination :)

My Project

Resources are so important to a classroom! We are trying to further our thinking in class by stopping to notice and note places we see Close Reading strategies. By helping students increase their metacognition, I know they can become intellectual thinkers. Post-its can help us do just that! Plus, paper is such a scarce commodity at my school, and it's such a necessity!

Donations to this project will help my Language Arts students use post-its to truly dive into their independent reading books, marking places where they identify critical, personal, or creative ideas.

The paper that will be used is so crucial to have in any classroom, and I will be sharing it with my coworkers.
