My Students

I am an AIS teacher located in New York City. I teach eager kindergarten, first, second, and third-grade children who are struggling readers and writers. My students are devoted to learning but need a different approach toward their education. They need small group instruction that uses many types of manipulatives.

When my children are successful, the look of wonder in their eyes is a sight to behold.

It is truly what makes being a teacher the best job in the world.

My Project

Social and emotional growth is becoming a buzz phrase in the educational community. Funny thing is, I completely believe that children need this type of support. I am planning on encouraging my students by having a weekly chart that allows them to add post-it notes that explain how they are feeling.

Imagine the relief a child feels knowing that when they come to school on Monday they will be able to let me know they had a difficult weekend.

This would allow me to help the child in need, but also touch bases with all the children in my classroom.

I love the thought that for the price of a post-it note my children can have emotional and social support for the year.

We also need Post-it notes for our STEM explorations. We always write our questions using these notes. The under desk organizer will keep our STEM folders in a handy place for my desks to be able to reach them.
