My Students

Our school is in Northwest Georgia. Our students are eager to pursue hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find real-world solutions! When students are exposed to meaningful science activities to deepen their understanding, great gains in problem-solving are observed.

My Project

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS implementation involves explicitly prompting, modeling, practicing, and encouraging positive expected social skills across settings and individuals. This program benefits both students and educators. All students develop and learn social, emotional, and behavioral competence, supporting their academic engagement. All educators develop positive, predictable, and safe environments that promote healthy interpersonal relationships with students through teaching, modeling, and encouragement. The students in our school track the reward tickets they receive for positive behavior.

Every other Friday, they are able to turn in their reward tickets or "PAWS" to "purchase" items from our grade-level store.

All of the items that are being requested will be placed in the store for our class cashier to sell. The students will learn money management through this process as well. The students will have the option to purchase gloves, chapstick, candy, fidgets and much more with their earned reward tickets. The incentives will be used to reward students who have are adhering to our PBIS expectations. Being able to give small and tangible rewards represents a quick and easy example of what behavior is accepted and expected of our students. Students should feel a sense of gratification and accomplishment when they make an effort to be a role model for others. The addition of the store will help students understand the importance of saving money and financial literacy.
