I am a Resource Specialist Teacher at our school. We are a Title I school, meaning that more than three-quarters of the students in our school come from low‑income households. Besides autism, some of my students also have anxiety, ADHD and specific learning disabilities. However, despite their disabilities, they always come to school with smiles on their faces.
My students' smiles bring joy to my life and they make my days more enjoyable.
My students are in the general education core curriculum. This workload is sometimes difficult for them, and it requires me to constantly think of ways to help them stay focused and engaged so that they can be successful in the classroom. My students love to learn and I always encourage them to try their best.
My Project
In our classroom, we focus on positive behavior and we reward good choices with incentives to motivate students to continue making those good choices. We use "punch cards" to recognize students who are caught being good. Our students are able to collect cards and are then able to exchange them for prizes.
These pens, snacks, and small toys would be used to support our Positive Behavior Support System and to increase student motivation.
The items in our store are running low, but with your help, we can refill it. Based on the items we have tried, they really enjoy buying things like writing utensils, snacks, and small toys. We thank you for all your help!
