My Students

The students who attend our school are some of the most amazing children I have ever met. They live in one of the most dangerous communities in our nation's capital. Every day they walk down a hill to school where they are able to escape the violence that riddles their neighborhood. They attend a Title I school where 100% of the population receives free lunch. While students can't always leave their problems at the front door, they come through the front door to a school family that is ready to support them academically, emotionally, and physically.

My Project

At our school, we believe in PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Our entire school uses ClassDojo where students earn points for positive behaviors. At the end of each month, they can spend those points at our school store.

The materials being requested will be used to stock our school store and reward students for their positive behavior.

The materials being requested are materials students have expressed interest in and are things that students want to work towards earning. The boys indicated that the airplanes where something worth working towards, while the girls indicated the slap bracelets where something work working towards. All students showed an interest in writing tools, things that light up, and sticky hands.
