This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I plan to have my students work on the whiteboards during class instead of at their desks. When students are standing up and talking with their classmates, they are often more engaged and less likely to get distracted. Because I have limited wall space due to windows and lockers and other fixtures, I need another portable whiteboards that I can move around the room as needed. Also, it helps students showcase their work if needed since we can move it around to different parts of the room. However, students getting up and sitting down frequently requires them to move their chairs all the time. In my nearly 20 years of education, I've never had a room with louder chairs - the combination with my flooring and the metal chairs makes the noise literally too loud to concentrate. People in rooms above and below my room have complained because of the constant noise moving the chairs around.

I am requesting a class set of chair foot protectors, and an additional whiteboard so that I can spread up to six groups around the room and have students move around in relative peace and also not bother other students in the school.
