This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my first year as a New York City public school teacher. My students have welcomed me into the school with warm hearts and ready minds. Everyday they are excited to learn together in the classroom through engaging lessons, group collaboration and meaningful conversations. This diverse group of students bring me joy each day. Whether they tell a riddle in the morning or show a strong sense of determination in the afternoon, they continuously show their love for learning.

My Project

Being comfortable in the classroom is important for all students. As a teacher, I strive to make my classroom a welcoming environment so all students can learn.

Having portable writing desks will allow my students to be comfortable as they work and grow as writers.

Portable writing desks help will help my students focus on their writing tasks within the classroom because they will be comfortable in their seat. They can take notes and write in different parts of the classroom since the lap desks are lightweight. These desks are also stackable, so I can put them away at the end of the day to keep my classroom neat and organized.
