My Project

With the equipment listed, I plan to make each of my preschoolers their very own calming kits. Each child will receive a bag full of sensory tools to practice calming techniques at home or school. These kits will be portable to be used in all environments that the child may visit. Each bag will contain noise-cancelling headphones, a sit disc, pinwheel/bubbles for deep breathing, and fidgets. During my therapy sessions, I will practice with my students on how to use everything in their calming kit.

The portable calming kits will allow parents, caretakers, and family members to create a familiar calming environment for their child.

We will start to introduce kits to the students during circle time and once the child feels comfortable with the sensory tools, I will train parents/caretakers during our upcoming parent-teacher conferences.

This will be very exciting to give resources to parents that help carry over calming techniques already being used in the school setting. My goal is to help make difficult transitions such as taking a child to a crowded grocery store, noisy restaurant, or a family trip to the zoo possibly go smoother by implementing these tools. With your generous donation, these kits can be made possible.
