Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With your help, we want to put the latest, most popular comic books on the shelf of our school library.

92% of the students at our school come from households with below-average income.

The kids tend to be first-generation Americans whose parents have recently arrived in the U.S. from the Caribbean or from Central or South America. We do not have an affluent PTA that could help us purchase resources for our media center.

My Project

When kids come through the library door, most make a sharp right to the Comics Section. They love those books! Unfortunately, some of our most popular series are missing their latest installments: notably 'Dog Man' (the #1 series in the media center), 'The Baby Sitters Club' and 'Bad Guys'. This project aims to get 18 of these titles from Follett, our library book supplier. That means that these extra tough books will arrive fully-processed, with barcodes attached. Follett will send us electronic catalog information for the books so that they are ready to circulate on day one. And, trust us, they WILL be checked out the moment they hit the shelves! The kids cannot get enough of them! Please help us motivate our young readers. Any donation you could make would be very much appreciated!
