This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At James Bowie Elementary, we struggle to maintain attendance at or above 95% of the students present every day. However, when we offer incentives such as the popcorn and juice movie night at the end of the 9 week grading period for perfect attendance, we see a significant increase in student attendance.

Our school is high performing academically, rated a B with the State of Texas, but to keep improving, students have to be in class with their teachers.

Can you help us fund these movie nights for the first semester?

Our auditorium transforms into a cinema. Teachers take tickets at a ticket booth. Then we hand out the popcorn and juice as we roll the movie with stereo sound. It’s a memorable experience for all. Thank you for helping us make it happen!
