Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher in an integrated co-teaching classroom, and we work with students who have individualized education plans and some who do not.

We are a class filled with different learners who are always looking to help one another.

They are all sweet and treat one another with great respect and kindness. My students work hard and are super excited to learn. Our job is to provide students with the skills and strategies they need in order to find success, whether they are in special education or general education.

My Project

After being home during remote learning for the last 18 months, our students are experiencing school in person for the first time. They are experiencing all of the emotions associated with this transition back to in person learning.

Many of them are struggling to understand their emotions that come with such a new and stressful experience.

These items will help my students learn about different emotions and how to identify them. The pop-its I am requesting will help students calm down and regain their focus during the school day. The books will be used during read aloud time to start a discussion about emotions and social emotional learning. The mirror will help students identify their emotions and create a space to develop a positive self-image.
