Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach eighth grade math in a high crime very poor area of the south Bronx. Our school is over 90% free lunch. However, our kids are great. We are doing a project where students are making math fun and come alive! Bronx kids are dramatic and love to act. But math does not come easy. However, when you make math and an ART like performance, there abilities improve greatly. Each student is doing a 10 minute lesson on topic in algebra to be presented to other students and shown to other schools!! Each student must pick a topic from polynomials, slope, angles, or a quadratic equation. They will present the topic to the class. These mini lessons will then be filmed and used to help all students in our school and surrounding schools. Students learn by doing! By doing these short films, the topics will come alive and will be remembered always. However, we do not have a digital camera. Your help will impact the lives of so many and will help create videos that will be life changing.
