Pollinator Garden for Promoting Agriculture Awareness

My Project

My students will attempt to solve problems dealing with the environment and lack of pollinator habitats in their local community. Students will raise awareness by demonstrating how pollinator habitats can benefit underserved communities by promoting floral growth, which in turn, will also promote the growth of a variety of other plants in addition to promoting social and emotional wellness through selected designs and colors that demonstrate a symbiosis between humans, animals, and plants. The problem that my students will be attempting to solve will be how to create an environment that promotes the growth of indigenous plants and increases the necessity for pollination and natural pest control for our community as well as surrounding areas. Students will speak about their learning to our local school community by producing public service announcements that promote and teach about low-maintenance pollinator gardens that fit in with the indigenous plant life that can be found in the San Fernando Valley. The way that the requested materials will help my students to solve this problem is that they will be able to demonstrate in a creative capacity the effect of pollinator gardens on communities through the use of coding and the visual aid of lights in which pollinator flight paths can be shown in a visual way that supports all styles of learning.

Students will learn about empathetic pollinator habitats and promote their work through coding and circuits that will display their garden designs in an artful format made possible by the use of LED lights and a Chibitronics chip clip which acts as a conduit between the LED and power source.

In addition to promoting Pollinator gardens, my students will gain access to coding with LED sources as a way to demonstrate empathetic gardens.
