My Students

I am living the dream this year by being able to move back to my hometown and teach Fifth graders! Serving alongside my former teachers is the coolest experience! I serve a diverse group of kids who have many different interests and unique learning styles. I'm excited to take my students on a world-wide adventure as we dive into reading and explore literacy and social studies in new ways!

Fredrick Douglas said "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free", so in giving my students the tools to read, they are being empowered to choose the lives they want to lead.

This is my hope and my mission for each generation that walks into my classroom.

My Project

April is national poetry month. Fifth graders spend a lot of time learning about Figurative Language and understanding the elements of poetry and prose! What better way to explore this colorful writing than through poetry! This year we will be creating our very own Poetry Book for our end of the year project. Students will explore famous poems and write some of their own as part of their book project!

Poetry is one of the most exciting learning units in our classroom!

We cannot wait to use these resources to create our very own poetry books to have for years to come!
