My Students

Creative, Eager, Empathetic, Curious... I have the best students in the world, like most teachers claim. I want to do all I can for them and I need your help! We live in Southern California and are lucky to have a population with great diversity. Our school was the only high school in our neighborhood for decades and there are many stories of generations being students here.

Technology is meant to improve the quality of our lives and increase discovery & communication, but we need the tools to make this true of our classroom experience.

My students are lucky to have laptops in my classroom, but I need more to make sure they are used with purpose and efficiency to increase collaboration and creativity. I want the technology to keep their learning fluid, engaging, and student-specific so they see relevance in what they're learning!

We want to share our views to get relevant ELA experiences: podcast anyone? We need microphones, so students can explore a topic, conduct formal research and interviews, and compile their findings for various audiences to enjoy while they (and WE!) learn!

My Project

We say we want students to think, to back up their thinking, and to share their thoughts with others. We say we want our students to have the chance to showcase their learning and thinking with authentic audiences.

Podcasts are a way to use Project-Based Learning so students can practice a variety of hard and soft skills all while mastering the content!

We will be using every possible skill we can as we complete our projects: communication, collaboration, drafting, technology, ideation, reflection, overcoming setbacks, finding and solving problems, adjusting our delivery based on audience, research, and curation.
