My Students

Have you ever had something to say, but nobody to say it too? Middle school students love to talk and share their ideas. They are passionate about their views on the world and love to tell people about them.

These students are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a Title I middle school.

The students come from a wide range of backgrounds. Many of them come from poverty and have little access to technology outside of school. They have a lot of energy and are constantly sharing their opinions. They love to dream big and aren't afraid to take risks.

My Project

Students often share their ideas and thoughts about the world around them with their classmates and teachers, however the discussion usually stops there. Podcasting (audio recording) allows students the opportunity to share what they've learned with a much larger audience. The set up I am requesting will allow the students to create professional sounding podcasts. This technology combined with iTunes allows them to present their thoughts globally. The newspaper class I teach will create podcasts about their news stories. They will record news broadcasts which can be downloaded by their peers. My Language Arts students will use the technology to record podcasts about what they have learned and how that knowledge can benefit others.

This project gives the students a global audience.

It will give them the opportunity to create something that can impact people around the world. Most importantly, this project is giving the students a voice.
