My Students

My students are a variety of young and exceptional scholars, who come from a variety of backgrounds. Often competing with many peers in neighboring districts that have far more than they do, the deck always seems to be slightly stacked against them. This is especially true during our current pandemic where the disparities in our educational institutions become very apparent for all to see.

These children are young and hungry to learn, and if they are going to succeed it needs to be a community effort.

My Project

Even in the darkest of times our students can shine brightly inspiring us all. This project was sparked from my last conversation with my students in the 2019/2020 school year. They have shared with me their trouble focusing at home during this pandemic in our "distance learning" environments. What we have found out through trial and error, however, that during their busy days they have been listening to more music and podcasts while they are helping their siblings and guardians in their homes.

Using these multimedia resources, I will be able to create daily podcasts for my students to reinforce their daily lessons as they navigate their chaotic days in these uncertain times.

I will also be able to teach my students how to use these resources when our lives get back to more normalcy and we can be together in our classroom again. Practicing these 21st Century multimedia skills are pivotal to holistically teach these children and better prepare them for their prospective futures.
