Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love our collection of classroom books and one author who is a fan favorite in the classroom is Jory John and his Food Group books. My students love listening to the stories and acting the stories out, following along with the parts they know and drawing pictures about their favorite parts. They love to engage with the fun characters and themes in the books.

My students enjoy company when they are listening to and reading books and they engage more deeply when they have a hands-on component to the book.

These plush toys will serve as reading buddies for my students as we read our favorite classroom read alouds and students do activities based on the books. They can read to their plush buddy, have their buddy sit on their desk or on the carpet with them while they work and even share their buddy with a classmate. These plush toys will build comfort and confidence in my students as they navigate familiar texts to boost their reading and comprehension skills in a fun and relaxing way.
