The students that I work with may have special needs and they may face different challenges - but they are still teenagers with the same interests and needs as their general education peers. Despite the added challenges these very special young people face, they participate enthusiastically in our chorus and our bucket drum band. Thanks to the Little Kids Rock Organization we received 14 guitars and therefore 14 fortunate students will be able to take guitar lessons. This is, however, just the beginning. Yes, we have the guitars and yes we have our chorus- but we don't have music stands. As the students gain skills they need to be able to read the music they are to play and/or sing - and this cannot be easily done without music stands. In addition, we do have some microphones but without the microphone stands it will be very difficult to use them.As I stated before, my very special students have the same needs and wants as everyone else. With your help our "School of Rock" will be the hit that we all want it to be. Thank you for your consideration and for everything.
