This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are awesome! We start off our day by saying, "Good Morning" in any of the five languages that we have learned. This allows for an awesome opportunity for a great dialog. My scholars have made many improvements in their learning. I am very proud of each and every one of them.

My special needs scholars range from having learning disabilities to behavioral emotional issues.

However, all of my scholars have invested time and energy in moving forward academically. Our Title I school works hard to build a community where all the scholars feel safe and encouraged to succeed. Everyone within the building is invested in their learning as a whole. My scholars range from being extremely smart and funny, to being shy and aggressive at times. We have all been working to build a community in our classroom where learning is respected. I started my year with two words; integrity and cooperation. We have read about it, written about it, and most importantly, have made a priority to own the meaning and the actions of both words.

My Project

I am struggling to provide our scholars with the materials they need to be successful during the reading and math intervention period. These resources such as the dry erase markers will allow them the opportunity to write down their math strategies and define which part of the strategy made them enhance their reasoning cognitively. The Read and Respond Using Evidence Card Bank will be a welcome addition during D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) time. The Intermediate Reading Tracker highlights one line of text at a time, so students can focus on reading without being overwhelmed. In the content area of math, The Explain Your Reasoning Math Prompts challenge students to go beyond the right answer and build problem-solving skills that will last a lifetime. My goal is always to provide a nurturing environment where students feel safe and excited about learning something new each day. These supplies allow them to have an opportunity to develop skills that are priceless.

The donations will be an awesome addition in my classroom.

The skills our scholars are learning in elementary school are fundamental to their development as lifelong learners. These resources are critical in helping my scholars make the gains necessary to close the achievement gap.
