My Students

My school has approximately 400 students that come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. In any given classroom, one might expect some of the students to come from wealthy families while others are homeless. There is also a wide range of learning abilities. 15-20% of my students have learning disabilities.

Our school has been going through real hard economic times for the past 10 years or so, and it had a detrimental impact on the learning environment.

Now, as we deal with COVID, we are back and forth between in person learning and remote learning. The teacher chromebooks are not sufficient for the remote learning. They do not work well with zoom once there are more than a few students signed in, and the students' education is suffering as a result.

My Project

Despite COVID, my remote students deserve the best educational experience possible. My school is operating under a hybrid model, so some students are in school while other students are remote. When students are remote, my biggest goal is to provide them an education that is quality enough that it compares to them being in school five days per week.

Currently, I have been provided with an insufficient Chromebook while other people in the district have upgraded technology.

As a result, my remote lessons are almost impossible to do because my computer does not have enough CPU to complete basic tasks. My computer also does not have the ability to draw on the screen which is a vital part of many of my lessons. When I am zooming with my students, they typically cannot understand much of what I say because my computer is so glitchy. My goal is to solve all these problems at once by getting upgraded technology that my district could not provide me. Thank you in advanced for considering this project!
