Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Teaching is a very exciting and rewarding career. I pride myself with my ability to take on everyday challenges in my classroom and really inspire my students to gain the knowledge they need to succeed. However, sometimes the challenges require solutions that I am unable to provide. That is why I am writing this proposal. I am a third grade teacher at Cameron Elementary School in Chicago. This is a very challenging school on the west side of Chicago. Besides dealing with the task of educating students from very low-income families and many students who do not have supportive home lives, I am faced with the responsibility of incorporating technology in my classroom. My classroom has no functioning computers and the school is struggling to provide computers to the classrooms. I found out that this year they will be providing new computers to some classes, but they do not have money to give me a computer or printer. My previous teaching experience was being a librarian in a school media center. I learned from this experience how important technology is in students' education. Using the computer and internet has limitless possibilities to enhance the learning of my students. I really believe that having a PC computer and a printer in the classroom are essential tools for learning. I believe this so much that I have even placed my own personal PC from home in my classroom for my students' use. However, with a large class, one computer is just not enough. I do not have the money to purchase another computer and a printer for the classroom. That is why I am asking for your help. Thank you for considering my proposal. Sincerely, Ms. Rachel Quandt
