Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In September, I will open my classroom to a diverse group of high school students and many of them will be entering high school for the first time. Most of them will enter my classroom with mixed emotions about their first day of high school. Many of them will be travelling out of their neighborhood's for the first time, entering a school new building and some of them will be extremely nervous. In order to make this transition easy, I want my classroom to have all the necessary items that they will need to have a successful school year.

No student should be without the necessary ingredients for success.

My Project

As a History teacher it is important for me to stay current with events concerning our nation and world but at times it can be extremely difficult when you have limited resources. My students are currently sharing a laptop in my classroom that is functioning at low capacity. I am asking for a Dell Inspiron with Windows Office for my students.

Everyday when my students use the current laptop we are patiently waiting for the green light to appear after it is turned on.

This outdated laptop has been the highlight of the school year, it has motivated my students to get to class on time so that they can warm it up before class starts.

Our classroom laptop has also been the topic of great discussions connected to the historical advancements of technology especially during the Industrialization period and has sparked many creative activities as result of the lack of technology. A new classroom laptop will facilitate student research.
