My Students

I am one of the luckiest teachers around because I have an amazing class. My students are so full of life, wonder, kindness, respect, and a quest for knowledge.

I call my students my kids because they are that important to me!

I want to give them the best start I possible can. My kids come from many different economic backgrounds. We are a Title I school with 76% of students on free or reduced-price lunch. Many students come from poverty stricken-homes. Often their parents work more than one job and/or have difficult work hours, making homework and reading times hard to schedule. My kids need different ways to learn while at school.

I want to help make my classroom more inviting to all my students. I want their classroom to be a home away from home.

My Project

I am requesting several different seating options for my students. Yoga balls, wobble cushions, and wobble seats will provide my students with the chance to choose their own seating. Students are expected to sit, be engaged, and focused for long periods of time. While I give my frequent breaks, being able to wiggle in their seats will help sustain their engagement and increase learning.

When students are comfortable, they are better able to learn.

I have worked hard for many years to create a classroom where my students feel safe. I want to help create an environment where my students are not only emotionally comfortable, but also physically comfortable. Yoga balls, wobble cushions, and wobble seats will help all of my students.
