My Students

There is never a dull moment in my classroom. Students know their roles and duties, centers are constantly in rotation, and everyone is learning. The last thing I want for my students is to come in and see that the movement has stopped, due to a paper shortage or lack of supplies in the classroom.

Located in Washington D.C., my students are in a neighborhood in which resources are at a minimum.

But you'd never be able to guess it in the classroom! Now that they have successfully transitioned into their first year of middle school, I want to keep up the momentum that they possessed in the classroom last year! We are a blended learning model school meaning that we are technologically driven while providing instruction. At times, some of my students are not able to access the material on the computers and need an alternative way to learn. There are also students who excel with our blended learning model and require additional assignments and projects that can be printed from the computers. This will allow them several opportunities to increase their skill set while mastering objectives presented in the classroom.

My Project

I can't tell you how difficult it is to acquire paper! With a building full of teachers, we definitely have our times of paper shortage. I am hoping that a case of paper will assist us with an uninterrupted flow of instruction. Creating packets called "trackers" will allow my students a breakdown of the material being presented on the computer, which will result in completion of assignments. Colored copy paper can be used for important notes home while the regular paper can be used for classwork! With our building undergoing construction, we are not able to utilize the walls. However, the windows are still an option! To create a splash of color in the classrooms, washable window markers can be used to personalize the room with student names, student of the month announcements, or anything else my creative minds will think of producing.

I am able to print additional assignments for students who may be struggling or for students who require enrichment! Without worrying about paper being scarce, students are able to continue the learning process uninterrupted!
