Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are my children. My classroom consists of 25 children from all different backgrounds. I have a large percent of beginner English Language Learners. The rest of my class consists of students with special needs and general education students.

More importantly my students are funny, energetic, creative, frustrated, shy, silly, curious, but most of all resilient.

All the diversity makes for a great teaching experience, but it also makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom.

Every morning I start fresh and do my best to reach the needs, whatever they may be, of each child. My school has a very large population of low, socio-economic students. Many of the children live in shelters and live in large multi -generational households. It would be awesome to give all these children the opportunity to meet their optimal potential, while providing a fun and relaxing enviroment for my students.

As an early childhood educator, I am an advocate for children to have daily free playtime. The Animal Friends Club House and the set of Disney Doorables will be a great addition to our playtime centers. These materials will provide my class with many chances to engage in conversation with one another, act out realistic stories and even silly ones.

This type of play is benifical for all children especially with developing oral language skillls, enhancing conversational skills, and builds one's vocabulary "bank". I can not wait to watch and listen to them use this new playtime center.
