As a first year teacher in a 21st Century classroom, I have quickly come to realize how important hands on learning is for students. My Kindergartners come to school each morning with a smile on their face as they are greeted by me with a hug or a handshake and welcomed to the class by their classmates. My students have created a class family and they love one another dearly. They are eager to learn and willing to listen to whomever offers the keys to success to them.
It is my desire to build a student centered classroom where my students are free to explore and discover their world through hands on activities during centers with their fellow classmates.
I hope to be able to provide various sensory items, puzzles, STEM games and other educational materials for my students to use to improve their learning and sharpen their skills.
My Project
My students will use these activities and materials to build on the curriculum knowledge they will learn in Kindergarten. They will use these materials to build, create and explore, and will use the Bingo Game Set to master letter and sound identification, number identification and sight words. They will also build fine motor skills that are so crucial to a developing child as they sort colors, numbers and quantities using the magnetic sorting games. The sensory materials will allow students who need tactile stimulation to feel comfortable enough to engage in play with their classmates as well, using tbe Feel and Find Sensory Tubs. By donating to this project, you not only play a vital role in the development of the seventeen students in my class now, but in the thousands of students that will come through my classroom for years to come.
