Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are "koala-ty" learners that attend a Title I-funded school in Hawthorne, CA. My students have unique strengths, but one thing they have in common is a strong love of learning. Although they may not have a lot of resources to keep up with the ever changing world, they are always up for the challenge of learning something new.

In this class, we build a community of lifelong learners.

My students are constantly working hard and eager to learn. Coming back from this crazy year, I want to make sure that my eager students have access to a variety of resources.

I strive to make our classroom, in person and from a distance, the best environment possible where my students can express themselves creatively and be exposed to all sorts of learning experiences.

My Project

All work and no play is no way for any kid to spend their day! Strong social skills and positive peer relationships help to increase a student's motivation, self-esteem, and can greatly improve school attendance.

As our students return to in person learning, many are in need of positive interaction after being away from the socialization and peer interaction that distance learning could not provide.

Due to this, we are seeing an increase in peer conflicts, and potential bullying behaviors. After reteaching expectations and participating in conflict resolution, having the opportunity to play together and learn to enjoy each other's company is critical in ensuring conflicts do not continue. These games will allow us to provide that opportunity to our students.
