We have been blessed with over 80 kindergarten students! Teaching at a Title I school, my students have been through a series of transitions as they have not yet had a traditional school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many were either virtual or did not have the opportunity to attend school and for others, this is their first time in this type of setting.
Every day they come to school eager to learn and ready to see what the day brings them, meeting it with a smile and a ready attitude, despite their own personal and academic hardships.
For 18 months, many of our students have had little to no interaction with their peers. Team building and social skills are a must for any growing student, especially our younger kids.
My Project
My students need recess equipment! In trying to stay safe during this unprecedented pandemic, many of our students do not regularly have access to playground equipment. This results in a recess where our students will normally sit on benches or play in circles during recess times as we cannot share a full playground area. With a full set of recess equipment, my students will be able to take a break from learning a few times a week to exercise their bodies, which will promote group bonding among peers and lead to fewer disruptions in the classroom! Students will get to play and make lasting bonds of friendship through the memories that recess will help create.
New recess equipment will improve our recess time by 100% as we currently have very little supplies to use during recess.
Our students will be so excited when a donor like you is able to provide an optimal play environment and help them to release the stress of the day through structured and rigorous play!
