My Project

“If we don’t stand up for the arts, who will?”

Since 2013, our school has put on a number of full-scale theatrical productions each year through its after-school program.

This year we need your help this year to make scenery and props for our production of "Moana Jr."

Having a regular creative outlet is not just part of a well-rounded education – it is essential for a child’s emotional health and well-being. Producing a show brings the arts together and provides growth opportunities for all varieties of learners. Kinesthetic learners engage their bodies through dance, linguistic learners dive into the written and spoken word, spatial learners tackle set and costume design, and musical learners revel in the show’s score.

Besides being incredibly fun, musical theater helps young people develop many of the skills necessary for success in today’s world: literacy, self-confidence, communication, imagination, empathy, critical thinking, problem solving, self-discipline, community awareness, public speaking, cross-curricular integration, and teamwork. Each year, students gain valuable life skills through their participation in our school productions.

Every year, our students put in over 50 rehearsal hours after school and countless more at home preparing for a show that the entire school is proud of. The supplies in this project will ensure that our incredible students have scenery, props and costumes that reflect their level of dedication and passion.
