My Students

"Vertical thinking is digging the same hole deeper. Lateral thinking is trying again elsewhere." Edward de Bono. This quote embodies how we approach learning in our classroom. We try and try again. Games help to promote alternate ways of thinking and approaching learning.

My students are high-need special education students.

They struggle with learning but never give up. Most are also English language learners. They teach me everyday to push myself to find new ways to meet their needs, as they push themselves everyday to grow.

My Project

These games will help to realize my dream of having daily access to fun and alternative methods of learning. They are another tool to expose my students to real world applications of the subjects we study daily. Word, time, and money games show the students simulated situations where these skills will help them in life.

My goal is to provide my students with the preparation they need for a fulfilling life.

It is hard at ten to imagine what all these subjects will mean day to day. I try and put as much context into my teaching as possible and these games will give me another way to apply their knowledge.
