Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an itinerant speech therapist working with students from Pre-K through 12th grade, supporting their communication skills in multiple schools. My students are incredible. They are curious, resilient, and eager to learn, each with their own unique strengths and challenges. They thrive when speech therapy is engaging, interactive, and tailored to their needs.

This project will help create a calming, play-based speech therapy space where my students feel comfortable and motivated to practice their communication skills.

The requested materials: playdough, Magna-Tiles, a "What's Inside?" mystery box, articulation mirrors, and small prizes will provide hands-on, multi-sensory learning experiences. Playdough and Magna-Tiles will encourage creativity while supporting language development, articulation practice, and social skills. The "What's Inside?" game will spark curiosity and conversation, helping students expand their vocabulary and sentence structure. Mirrors will allow students to see their mouth movements for clearer speech production, and small prizes will serve as fun reinforcements for their hard work.

My goal is to create an environment where students feel safe, engaged, and excited to communicate. My goal is to create a calming, interactive space will make therapy is effective and enjoyable. These materials will provide opportunities for learning through play, making speech therapy sessions not only productive but also something my students look forward to.
