Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in my kindergarten class love building! Everyday they are using the materials we have in our classroom to create these incredible designs. Unfortunately many of the materials have become quite worn out due to years of use. For example, during choice time many of the students love playing with the Lincoln Logs, however we no longer have pieces to create a roof and some have needed to be thrown out because they were giving the children splinters. Due to budget cuts the past three years we have not been able to revamp out materials for choice time.

Our students deserve to have access to a variety of materials during choice time to let their imaginations run wild.

These materials would used daily in our classroom. Children would love to use the magnetic people to include in their magnetic tile structures. The Lincoln Logs would be used to create elaborate villages and set the stage for pretend play. I am envisioning the TOMYOU building pieces will not only be a favorite center during choice time, but also offer a comforting activity for students who need support in regulating their emotions after lunch and recess.

I can assure you that these materials will be used to their full potential not only by students this year, but in years to come.
