This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are enrolled in the 3K and Pre-K program in a public school located in the South Bronx. Our school is a Title I school and has been greatly impacted by the current COVID 19 pandemic. Now, we also have to deal with budget cuts to our school, we do not want these issues to affect our students access to education; including physical education.

Our students are smart, loving, creative, curious and energetic individuals.

They need to move their bodies and spend hours every day enjoying active play. Gross-motor activities foster the use of large muscles in their arms, legs, and trunk. What some might call “outdoor play” helps harness the power of muscles to walk, run, jump, throw, catch, and kick.

My Project

Our school needs gross-motor equipment to help foster healthy physical, mental and emotional growth in our students; especially after having to learn Remotely for about three months. Your contributions will help build excitement in our students as they return to school and find material they can use when playing outdoors. These materials will help build gross-motor skills that are important for children to perform everyday tasks such as getting dressed, maintaining appropriate table top postures while eating and sitting upright to attend to class instruction, amongst many other task.

Without appropriate gross motor skills, children may struggle with many day to day tasks such as a walking, eating, going up and down stairs, carrying their book bags, etc.
