Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students need so many things that I can't give them. What better way to help them enjoy being children then to provide them with recess equipment. I teach at a school where the children are considered to be low socio-economic status. Almost 90% of them receive free and reduced lunch, and many of my students face challenges that we could never fathom.

I teach at a brand new school and unfortunately there was nothing planned in the budget for playground or recess equipment. Right now all that our children have to play with is the little bit of equipment that the teachers have been able to round up, which has not been very much, and their are no funds left to purchase equipment from except teachers' own pockets. Many of our students have other responsibilities that they must attend to when they get home and do not have time to simply be children. I would like for them to have the chance to just enjoy themselves.

I am asking for 12 jump ropes, 6 kick balls, 6 hula hoops, 6 mitt and ball sets, 1 bat and ball set and a storage chest to keep it in. The storage chest would be kept in the play area we have so that all classes could use the equipment. Over 500 students would have the opportunity to use these materials. I know that they do not seem like much, but for our students, who basically have nothing to play with, this is a great place to start.

Furthermore, by you choosing to fund my project you will make it possible for over 500 students to simply enjoy being kids and to have fun while they can. Thanks for taking the time to consider helping my students.
