My Students

My students are creative, caring, and eager to learn. Although my students come from different backgrounds, many of them face struggles stemming from institutional racism and poverty. The art room is a place for them to freely explore materials and ideas, express their autonomy, and have fun!

My Project

Kindergarten and first grade students returning to in person learning this fall will benefit greatly from materials they can squeeze, roll, pinch, and mold in order to help them develop better hand dexterity. Using a material like play dough can help students develop hand strength in a fun and stress free environment, and they can take that hand strength back to their classrooms to help with writing and working with pencils.

Your support would help ensure that all my kindergarten and first grade students have their own three ounce container of play dough to take home to help them develop better hand dexterity this fall.
