Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Yonkers public school. This is my 21st year teaching and I too went to all Yonkers schools. I truly understand what it is to attend these schools and come from nearby neighborhoods.
My students are eager to learn and they love our Montessori philosophy.
My Project
We need a magnetic wipe board and new decorations as we are starting in a new classroom. Students will love the new plant decorations to give them a clean and fresh start to our 2021-2022 school year. Having a plant in the classroom will remind them of items at home and hopefully, I can also include live plants for further Science exploration as well.
Students will enjoy the calmness of various plants in our classroom.
In Montessori botany is an excellent way to explore Science. I am looking forward to exploring this project with plants, vegetables, and fruit. My goal is to have students make a snack with what our plant life gives us. Students will walk away with Botany lesson and they can use for a lifetime.
