In the real world, using a planner is an essential skill to remember appointments, meetings, and assignments. This is just as important for high school students to record deadlines, homework assignments, upcoming exams, and other events. Yet, my students don't have planners.
My students attend a high school in a high needs, urban area of New York.
Many of them are the first in their families to graduate from high school and go to college. Our school does not have the money to purchase extra supplies for teachers or students. In the past, the school provided students with planners at the beginning of each school year. However, due to budgetary constraints, the school cut back and did not purchase planners to provide to students this year.
My Project
Therefore, students are left without any place to write down their homework assignments, upcoming exams, and other important information. While some of them bought note pads to write down assignments, most were unable to purchase a planner and thus, they are not utilizing this essential tool to track assignments and learn time management. By funding this project, you will provide all of my students with planners that will enable them to write down their homework so that they don't forget to do it, record dates for upcoming exams so they don't forget to study, and help to promote time management and academic success.
Please take the time to support this project.
My students are struggling to complete their work on time and their grades are suffering. As a teacher, I see that they really need a place to organize their assignments and write down when things are due. Please continue to support urban education, teachers and students, and my classroom where my students are striving for success in both high school and beyond. Thank you so much! I really appreciate your continued support.
