My Students

I proudly teach at Title-1 poverty campus in the heart of downtown Houston, where I am truly believe I have the best students in the world. Because of the area in which I work, my students often go without. My daily mission is to make them feel special in every way possible!

Our mission, which we read everyday, says the person I will focus on being better than, is the "me" of yesterday!!

I truly believe they strive to meet this challenge daily. Despite their living conditions, the lacks of their lives, they find the positive in all things.

I had the pleasure of looping up from second to third with my babies! Currently, I am teaching third grade Math and Science, which is a brand new experience for me! My students are eager to learn the new curriculum and excited to meet and surpass any challenge I place before them!

My Project

Guided Math is a strategy I use daily in my classroom. The materials in which my class and I are asking for will help close some of the gaps in math. I will use the place value teaching kits during small groups, where I work with and coach Tier 3 students.

During guided math, the place value teaching kit will be used to guide students in understanding how digits change value according to where they fall within the place value chart.

The place value teaching kit is an awesome visual for the students to make connections.

The write and wipe number lines will be used to order and compare numbers. We will also use them for guided math and workstations. Some students struggle when it comes to a number line and ordering numbers, however, this hands on manipulative allows students to explore and practice with write and wipe number line.
