Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are starting up a new elective at our middle school: Farm to Table! In this class, students will plan out our school garden, germinate, grow, and nurture our own organic produce, and once we harvest, we'll prepare our own food.

The class pizza oven will give my students a chance to cook the food they've grown and harvested, creating healthy and delicious meals and engendering skills that can last for a lifetime.

We will experiment with making our own organic dough, using our own hand grown produce, experimenting with new recipes, and eating the fruits of our labor together. Since I don't have access to a kitchen this pizza oven with enable us to cook in a unique and tasty manner. More than that: what kid doesn't like pizza? Couple that with hard work, organic produce, and team work, and these kids will take these lessons forward with them in life.
