Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting a pizza oven to give my students the opportunity to experience the full process of making naturally fermented pizza from start to finish. With this oven, they will be able to bake their homemade dough to perfection, seeing firsthand how fermentation, heat, and ingredient quality impact the final product. This hands-on learning experience will reinforce key concepts in science, math, and culinary arts while fostering creativity and collaboration in the kitchen.

The goal of this project is to teach students about the art and science of fermentation while also introducing them to the benefits of using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

By incorporating a pizza oven into our classroom, students will be able to take their learning beyond theory and into practice, creating delicious, handcrafted pizzas that they can take pride in. This project will also encourage teamwork, patience, and an appreciation for food made from scratch.

My students are eager to learn and thrive in hands-on experiences that connect classroom lessons to real-world skills. Many come from diverse backgrounds and have limited access to fresh, homemade meals. This project will empower them to create something tangible, work together as a team, and develop an appreciation for cooking and sustainability. Their curiosity and enthusiasm make them the perfect group to take on this challenge, and I know they will be excited to see (and taste!) the results of their hard work.
