Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is tough, and making friends can be even tougher — especially when screens often replace face-to-face conversations. Many of my students are still learning how to connect, collaborate, and communicate in real life. From English Language Learners (ELLs) working on vocabulary growth to special education (SPED) students navigating social challenges, they all deserve opportunities to build confidence and friendships.

My students are ready to level up their social skills — they just need the right tools to help them bridge the gap from pixels to people.

With your support, I’ll bring in a variety of engaging games for everyone, from quick two-player challenges to lively large-group activities. Word games like headbanz and catchphrase will help students expand their vocabulary and strengthen ELA skills, while collaborative and strategy games like connect4 and qwirkle will provide students with opportunities to practice communication.

Every roll of the dice or flip of a card will spark conversations, build confidence, and best of all, encourage students to step away from their screens and build real-life connections in a fun, low-pressure environment. They’ll give students a chance to solve problems, celebrate each other’s victories, and form friendships across different groups. By fostering authentic interactions, this project will help create a more inclusive and connected school community. Thank you for helping my students press pause on the screens and play — together, IRL!
