Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a low social-economic school in South-East Houston. My students are all minority students with 100% of the school’s population being on free and reduced lunch.

Hurricane Harvey recently hit our area hard and our athletic equipment was damaged in some form or fashion.

With funding being reduced at my school this school year, I am trying to find ways to replace the damaged athletic equipment.

Having the equipment replaced at our school would help our athletic program be more successful against our opponents. For most of the students here, this will be their first time playing any sport at the middle school level. My goal is to prepare all aspiring athletes at Hartman Middle School for the next level by teaching them the importance of working hard, having a healthy lifestyle, and conditioning daily.

My Project

Donating to this project will make a huge difference to our basketball program at Hartman Middle School. Throughout the season we have several injuries, but are unable to treat them properly without the equipment. These ice pack belts for the different areas of the body I chose will come in handy this season. My athletes use their knees, backs, and shoulders throughout practice time and on game days, so I want to be prepared for the worst. The coolers will be used as hydration stations during practice and on game days to maintain H2O for all my athletes during an intense workout and competition. The dribble goggles will go a long way for both the 7th and the 8th Grade teams to perfect their dribbling skills. Thanks for the generous donation ahead of time!
