My Project

We seek to establish the Pioneer Planters Garden Club at Mary Bryan Elementary. In our school of 650+ students, our families represent more than 15 different countries, many of whom have home gardening at the heart of their culture. We would like to embrace that as we both educate and celebrate all that gardening can do for us as a people.

Our garden club goals are to cultivate a love for nature, enhance understanding of plant biology and the food cycle, promote teamwork, and provide a space for creative expression and stress reduction.

Our students are a unique and enthusiastic group with diverse backgrounds, many lacking access to green spaces and hands-on science. They possess a natural curiosity that will thrive with the opportunity to create and care for a garden.

The items on our wish list will help complete our supply needs. The tools will provide hands on experiences. The seeds will provide real world examples of the life cycle. The educational materials will provide a solid foundation for the students to expand their knowledge. By learning through direct experience, students will develop a deeper understanding of science and the natural world, fostering a lasting connection with nature as well as the experiencing the satisfaction that comes from growing and caring for a garden.

Our mascot is the pioneer and we hope to embody what pioneering is all about as we get this project off the ground. We sincerely appreciate any help that you can give us.
